Senior Systems Engineer - Advanced Cybersecurity Location: Dulles, VA Job Description:
Join our client’s team where they are collaborating with a premier U.S. Government contractor to enhance a critical development and sustainment program. This program focuses on creating and maintaining a network operations environment while incorporating new cybersecurity features to counter evolving threats. We are looking for a skilled Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in conceptualizing and implementing cloud-based solutions. Your expertise will be pivotal in transforming requirements and system engineering concepts into sophisticated cloud infrastructure and operational frameworks. Key Responsibilities: • Lead Systems Engineering projects for a cutting-edge cybersecurity system. • Guide teams through the development, integration, and testing of innovative cybersecurity solutions, in coordination with the Design & Development Lead and Chief Engineer. • Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and users to understand and translate their needs into system requirements, use cases, and specifications for future development cycles. • Act as a user advocate during development processes. • Work collaboratively within Agile frameworks, participating in Agile Release Trains and Teams. • Conduct risk assessments and devise strategies for risk mitigation. • Provide Systems Engineering leadership for major cybersecurity initiatives. Essential Qualifications: • U.S. Citizenship required. • Active Secret clearance, with eligibility for TS/SCI clearance. • Eligibility for DHS Suitability. • Minimum of 6 years in systems engineering, including experience in hardware/software allocation, use case development, and automation/orchestration of large systems. • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience leading sizable teams. • Effective working independently or as part of a team, including leadership roles in Agile environments. • In-depth understanding of Government Information Security policies and guidelines. • Advanced skills in AWS/Azure cloud tools and infrastructure automation. • Proficiency in scripting languages like JSON, YAML, HCL, Python, bash/PSH, and tools like CloudFormation/Terraform. Preferred Skills: • Experience with SAFe or similar Agile frameworks. • Proficiency in Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure) and cloud architecture. • Familiarity with software/system lifecycle methodologies (e.g., ISO, CMMI, ITIL). • Knowledge of RMF and NIST security controls (800-37, 800-53), with DHS experience being advantageous. Education Requirements:A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a High School Diploma with 14 years of relevant experience. Desired Certifications: • Agile software development methodology certification (e.g., SCRUM Master). • AWS Cloud Practitioner. • AWS Solutions Architect – Associate / Pro. • DoD 8570.1 IAT Level I or II certification (e.g., CISSP). Salary: $112,000
