Manager of Cybersecurity Architecture

Full Time Perm

Shift: Hybrid - 2 days onsite, 3 days remote

The Cyber Security department at NiSource ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of NiSource assets to achieve the company mission. This team performs various measures to protect the company with a wide range of technologies to combat the latest threats in an ever-evolving landscape.

This team performs incident response, cybersecurity education & awareness, guidance, intelligence gathering, and architecture design. The Cyber Security department is also responsible for managing policies that govern data permissions and how information is accessed and secured. Oversees the automated and manual provisioning and de-provisioning of access to data and data repositories

The Manager of Cybersecurity Architecture is responsible for leading the design and implementation of the organization's overall cybersecurity strategy. This includes identifying and assessing security risks, developing and implementing security policies, procedures and patterns, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You will work closely with other departments, to ensure that all systems, networks, and applications are secure. As the manager will also lead a team of cybersecurity professionals and will be responsible for managing the team's workflow and performance.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a cybersecurity strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives

  • Identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities, and develop and implement controls to mitigate those risks

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards

  • Manage and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals, and coordinate with other departments to ensure security best practices are followed

  • Keep abreast of new cybersecurity threats and technologies, and recommend and implement security enhancements as needed

  • Identify and analyze the Security business drivers to develop Security architecture requirements

  • Publish and effectively use Security Architecture standards, frameworks, patterns and procedures

  • Communicate with management and stakeholders about the status of the organization's cybersecurity posture and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Collaborate with other leaders to ensure integration of cybersecurity into the overall IT and Business strategy

  • Partner with operational technology teams on strategies and approaches on securing control and SCADA networks

  • Partner with physical (corporate) security teams

  • May take on a solutions engineering role for special enterprise-wide assignments and drive security best practices

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, CIS, MIS, or related area of study or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or IT Security functions

  • 2+ years experience leading cybersecurity teams

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption

  • Experience with compliance and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2

  • Strong technical still set around IT functions and how they relate to cybersecurity controls and technologies; hosting, networking, end user support, applications, middleware and database management

  • Strong understanding of cloud offerings and how to secure them

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IT audit experience

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise computing architecture and organizational structure

  • Utility industry knowledge

  • CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications

  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and COBIT
