Salary Range $158,000 - $268,600 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. What Your Job Will Be Like The Information Security Sciences group within the Computation & Analysis for National Security Center (CANS) is seeking a Distinguished R&D S&E Cybersecurity researcher to join our team and lead the evolution of our Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Security (CCIS) program cloud research projects. Your visionary and technical leadership will strategically position our team to simultaneously deliver on immediate sponsor needs in secure cloud computing and proactively anticipate and counter future threats to the cloud domain. The successful candidate will join organization 08767, the Secure Cloud Computing department. The Secure Cloud Computing department leverages deep understanding of cyber threats and broad expertise in computer networking, virtualization, and commercial cloud architectures to lead secure adoption of cloud technologies and to research advanced cloud threats for federal civilian departments and agencies. On any given day you may be called upon to: * Lead large teams of 50+ research staff, contractors, and external university and lab partners to achieve impactful and exceptional results. * Engage with sponsors to propose and develop solutions to significant national security challenges in cloud. * Partner across Sandia's Cyber Mission Centers to understand Sandia's unique capabilities and awareness of cybersecurity threats to cloud environments and build teams that bring the best capabilities to bear for our sponsors. * Develop relationships with key stakeholders across government and industry toward achieving long-term cloud security objectives * Engage in setting strategic direction for Sandia cloud research, particularly in support of the CCIS program. * Be a resource for subject matter expertise and collaboration across the center and the Labs. * Support strategic staffing initiatives and engage in staff mentoring and development. The selected applicant can be a virtual worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required. Qualifications We Require * A PhD in a STEM field, with 5+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity; or Master's STEM degree plus 9+ years relevant experience in cybersecurity; or Bachelor's STEM degree in relevant discipline plus 13+ of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job * Two+ years of experience working with commercial cloud environments * Ability to travel as needed (approximately monthly, primarily to Livermore, CA; Albuquerque, NM; or Washington D.C.) * Ability to obtain and maintain US DOE Q clearance with SCI access Qualifications We Desire * Demonstrated technical and strategic leadership of large (50+ researcher) R&D project teams with evidence of sustained success negotiating and delivering on objectives * Demonstrated creativity and success in delivering innovative and novel solutions that are responsive to complex customer mission needs and constraints * Excellent interpersonal and time management skills with experience leading and engaging with diverse and geographically distributed teams * Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely * Extensive familiarity with US Government civilian cyber mission partners (e.g. DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) * Recognized as an expert in the area of cloud cybersecurity with demonstrated technical leadership in cloud security space * Demonstrated success in developing junior team members and working through others * Demonstrated success working with and managing diverse and geographically dispersed teams * Active DOE Q clearance and SCI access About Our Team 8767 is the Secure Cloud Computing department which leads Cloud Cybersecurity R&D for federal civilian departments and agencies, with primary support to DHS/CISA.
