As part of the Enterprise Cybersecurity leadership team, this role is responsible for establishing a Service Management team that drives project and program execution, service delivery excellence, and financial integrity across all teams.  This role plays an important role in the growth and maturity of Enterprise Cybersecurity as a provider of security and risk services that protect and enable business strategies.  The Service Management team will work closely with Cybersecurity leadership and key stakeholders in central and divisional IT to understand service needs and measurement and reporting that is effective in driving greater cyber resiliency.   


  • Build a Service Delivery Model centered on the delivery of Cybersecurity and Risk services to the Abbott enterprise. This includes:

    • Create a catalog of Enterprise Cybersecurity services and key service delivery components (e.g. SLAs, Contacts, etc)

    • Develop and maintain a demand management process that aligns enterprise and divisional cybersecurity needs to Enterprise Cybersecurity resources and services

    • Maintain a robust metrics program which reports on a set of Abbott Cybersecurity and risk metrics, as well as Enterprise Cybersecurity operational metrics

    • Champion and promote service improvements on an ongoing basis to continually improve quality and customer satisfaction with Enterprise Cybersecurity services

    • Facilitate an annual Cybersecurity maturity assessment

  • Run a Project Management Office which effectively manages initiatives aligned to the defined strategic direction of the cybersecurity organization. This includes:

    • Manage a team of project managers aligned to strategic initiatives in the Cybersecurity portfolio

    • Establish, and manage to, a standard project management methodology including common requirements for scoping, establishing project timelines, budgeting, reporting and issue management

    • Monitor and control project budgets and targets provided by the project managers

    • Monitor implementations to ensure successful progress to project closure

    • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Project Sponsors and Leads and liaise with other BTS areas to facilitate successful end to end delivery

    • Monitor project progress, regularly report on progress, and communicate gaps in program performance and escalate as necessary

    • Develop a project pipeline that is informed by emerging threats, regulatory requirements and business strategy

  • Partner with Finance to actively manage the Operating Budget.  This includes:

    • Work with the Cybersecurity leadership to establish annual operating budget plan and subsequent quarterly forecasts with a close attention to financial and timing accuracy

    • Facilitate timely creation and submission of shopping carts for contract renewals and new contracts to align with forecasted spend

    • Where needed, work with Cybersecurity leadership and Procurement on contract negotiations  

    • Actively manage unplanned spend and favorability

    • Track headcount movement

Key Success for the Position:

  • Develop and foster relationships with critical stakeholders throughout Abbott technology teams and business divisions worldwide

  • A service delivery mindset that views the work of Cybersecurity as a business enabler which carries the responsibility of delivering cybersecurity in context of business operations and growth

  • Effective use of data and reporting to bring transparency to the operations and to initiate positive change in the security posture of Abbott

  • Ability to lead by example and balance short-term and long-term needs of the organization

  • Attract and retain talent, and ensure staff development (leadership, cross-functional, technical, global perspective).  Promote and foster diversity.

  • Manage an operating budget and project spend with financial discipline


Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience implementing projects and programs related to Information Security and or Information Technology with a track record of on time, in budget delivery

  • 4+ years of experience managing budgets – either at an individual cost center level or more broadly across an organization

  • Experience implementing IT Service Management and ITIL a bonus

  • Experience interacting and influencing change with a wide variety of technology professionals such as network and infrastructure operations, software engineers, cloud engineers, and cybersecurity experts

  • Success in developing metrics, measurements and reporting that drive action

  • Ability to translate technical cybersecurity concepts to a wide range of individuals from technology peers to business leaders

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create collaborative relationships with colleagues and influence without authority


  • Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Information Security, Information Technology, or related field and/or a minimum of 15 years of equivalent experience
