WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US? You will set your career on track for outstanding achievement with a company that knows no limits. Presidio is a leading IT solutions provider focused on Digital Infrastructure, Business Analytics, Cloud, Security & Emerging solutions.

THE ROLE: Cybersecurity Engagement Manager

Presidio is seeking a Cybersecurity Engagement Manager to join our team in a remote capacity.  The Engagement Manager works with the customer, Presidio’s consulting, sales, and internal operations teams to create a comprehensive engagement plan.  Additionally, you will oversee the Cybersecurity consulting effort and makes sure the engagement is completed on time and on budget and will act as an advocate for the customer ensuring that the end product meets the requirements of that client in accordance with the terms of the signed Statement of Work (SOW).

To that end, the Engagement Manager uses formal and informal control measures throughout the term of the engagement or engagement.  The formal control measures are documented in the section below.  Informal controls are the daily productive and supportive interactions with the engagement team members.  This informal control enables the Engagement Manager to learn about problems as they occur and take immediate steps to resolve them.  At the completion of the engagement a formal closeout process is performed, appropriate to each engagement’s level of complexity.  There are two objectives for the closeout process.  The first objective is to support Continuous Improvement through the open discussion of the positive and negative aspects of the engagement, with the future aim to repeat and disseminate positive aspects, as well as avoid negative ones.  The second aim of engagement closeout is to assess overall client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify Engagement Tasks

Understand the documentation of exactly what must be done in order to complete a particular engagement, including client tasks.  Through a facilitated session with all engagement team members, the activities and tasks of the engagement are established.  This information is examined to ensure that it is consistent with the Statement of Work (SOW).  The information gleaned from this effort will become the foundation of the Work Plan.

Create a Timeline with Consulting Lead

Once the tasks are identified, the level of effort to complete the tasks and a schedule is estimated.  Extremes in estimating should be avoided, thus, the estimate has a high probability of realization.  Additionally, close attention should be paid to long lead items as they often extend timelines.

Assign Resources

Working with Practice Directors, the Engagement Manager assigns consulting staff to each of the tasks identified in the engagement.  See Appendix A: Presidio’s Practice-base Resource Matrix.  If multiple resources are assigned to a given task, one individual should be identified as being accountable for completing the task.

Identify Risks

The Engagement Manager, in conjunction with the consulting team assesses the engagement and identifies potential areas of risk and their consequences.  Risks are typically associated with assumptions or unknowable information that might affect the cost, effort level or timeline of an engagement.  Examples of risks might include soft equipment delivery dates, potential engineer resource restrictions due to multiple engagements scheduled in a close timeframe or technical design failure.

Communicate the Work Plan

It is the Engagement Manager’s responsibility to communicate the Work Plan to the customer and delivery team and to keep all parties informed of progress and changes.

Manage and Control Scope

The engagement scope defined in the Statement of Work must be adhered to or the engagement is doomed to fail.  The Engagement Manager is responsible for keeping the team within the bounds defined in the SOW.  If a need to go out of scope arises, the Engagement Manager uses the Change Control procedures to redefine the scope.  Once the client and Engagement Manager agree to the scope change, the Engagement Manager communicates the new definition to the team.

Manage Effort and Progress

Managing effort and progress is of critical importance to the engagement.  The Engagement Manager must ensure the consulting team and client perform their activities within the time identified in the engagement plan.  The Engagement Manger must pay close attention to tasks that are on the critical path and move quickly to adjust to changes.  Any deviations in the level of effort or progress must be communicated to the team immediately.

Manage Issues

As new issues present themselves, they are documented and assigned to a resource.  That resource then works the issue until a resolution is found and reports back to the Engagement Manager.  The Engagement Manager informs the team of the resolution.

Manage Risk

Areas of risk identified in the planning phase must be continually monitored and controlled.  Furthermore, as new risks are identified, they must be documented and controlled.

Customer Satisfaction

A customer satisfaction form is filled out by the client.  This form helps determine the quality of the services performed by the engineer and engagement management staff.

Profit & Loss Study

The overall profitability of the engagement is determined by comparing the sales quote with actual hours and expenses.

Technical Lessons Learned Study

A review of the technical architecture is performed to see if it accomplishes the specifications outlined in the SOW.  Also, the implementation method is examined to determine if mistakes were made.

 Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to deliver larger and multi-phase Cybersecurity consulting engagements
  • Excellent customer-facing and written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with delivering low to medium complexity engagements
  • Strong project, program, and time management skills are required
