Position Summary:

The Cyber Security Officer performs cyber security engineering and planning functions in support of activities that enhance the security posture of the enterprise. These functions include supporting Information Systems Security Engineering-activities and information assurance analysis, as well as employing systems and Information Assurance best practices spanning product evaluation, testing, analysis, and providing recommendations, with consistent awareness on how it impacts both internal and external teams and organizations.

Position Description:

The Cyber Security Officer will assess and provide recommendations for the operational balance
between system efficiency and information assurance requirements. In addition, may be required to
perform validation and verification analysis to determine if the information assurance provisions are in
place and are adequate to meet the thresholds set for undetermined threats. Perform engineering and
planning functions in support of activities that enhance the security posture of the enterprise. These
functions include but are not limited to the following: 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and defines security requirements for computer systems that include network layer hardware, workstations, and servers. Designs develops, engineers, and implements solutions that meet security requirements.
  • Responsible for integration and implementation of the computer system security solution. Gathers and organizes technical information about an organization’s mission goals and needs, existing security products, and ongoing programs in computer security.
  • Performs risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of and the ability to implement mission security practices; current security tools; hardware/software firewalls and their implementation; different communications protocols; encryption techniques/tools and current internet technology.
  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of Microsoft server operating systems, Active Directory (AD), and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Performs a variety of full life‐cycle cybersecurity functions for existing and new software systems.
  • Define, gather and analyze system requirements and specifications. Analyzes and documents complex business rules.
  • Assists in designing architecture and data flow of software systems.
  • Programs software components to specifications. Integrates, tests, and debugs software components. Deploys and maintains software systems.
  • Evaluates complex data and prepares reports of results.  Reports to technical lead for a task or project.
  • Prepares required documentation including program‐level and user‐level documentation.
  • May provide technical database support including database design, development and management.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience conducting analysis in Cyber Security or a related field with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years is required.
  • Additional years of experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Current CI polygraph or ability to obtain CI polygraph is required.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the responsibility activities required to meet mission requirements.
  • Ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks.
  • In-depth analysis of analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries and clearly articulates key findings.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to define problems, supervise studies and lead surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions.
  • Leadership and expertise in identifying, planning, developing, and executing techniques aligned with labor category mission.
  • Extensive ability to provide strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to organizational senior leadership and policymakers.
