Cyber Security Systems Engineer

Sunbelt Rentals--the fastest growing rental business in North America--is seeking a Cyber Security Systems Engineer. The Cyber Security System Engineer role operates to build, operate, and manage cyber security solutions for the Sunbelt Rentals IT ecosystem.

This role is focused on collaborating with multiple teams to ensure security controls are engineered, supported and placed in other IT solutions as they are rolled out and maintained. This role will focus on the System engineering components of cyber security to include system hardening, server and system building, project rollouts, and last tier support for cyber security events to the enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:
Document actions in ITSM
Design and implement cyber security system solutions
Engage with multiple teams for project rollouts
Review security controls and standards for consistency and completeness
Interact across functional teams as security liaison for project rollouts and design.
Research and understand emerging cyber security threats and techniques
Daily monitoring of security infrastructure, security logs and tools.
Maintain and optimize security monitoring and alerting systems.
Lead incident response and security investigations.
Lead implementation of security hardening guidelines across multiple platforms and diverse system environments.
Provide monthly metrics.
Evaluate, test and select security tools, evaluation products and control products

Education & Experience:
3 – 5 years experience in an IT functional area with 3+ years’ experience in Cyber Security
CISSP, SANS security certifications or other related technical security certifications
Preferred experience in mid to enterprise sized companies
Demonstrated skill at designing and deploying cyber security solutions
In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network security issues and approaches
Broad knowledge of other areas of IT
Strong desire to learn and understand cyber security principals, trends, and actions
Ability to write clear notes, Visio diagrams, and other tools for effective and useful documentation
Must be detail oriented and highly accurate in work task
Ability to work with and be part of a core Cyber Security Team
Core Understanding 7 layers of OSI model
Core Understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems
Core Understanding of Identity and Access management
Core Understanding SIEM management and utilization
Strong ability to understand the interoperability across multiple complex IT systems
Strong understanding of adversary techniques and trends
Strong ability to prioritize work task
Strong ability to interact with various IT departments and support vulnerability mitigation

Physical Demands:
Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work.
