Counsel – Privacy & Cybersecurity

+ This role will work closely with teams throughout Eaton, including Legal, Product, IT Security, and Engineering, to build privacy and security into our products, drive compliance with privacy and technology laws globally, and maintain a culture of privacy within Eaton.
+ This position will provide legal advice for matters relating to privacy and cybersecurity, drive awareness across the organization regarding cutting-edge legal and business developments, and lead team morale and collaboration efforts.
+ Furthermore, this position will independently lead certain elements of the privacy program, be a key strategic partner for senior leadership and functions across Eaton.
+ The Counsel - Privacy & Cybersecurity will develop and maintain broad network of business relationships across all levels of the organization to support Eaton's Data Protection and Privacy program.
+ Advise product and engineering teams regarding data privacy and cybersecurity requirements and best practices
+ Drive privacy-and-security-by-design and -default throughout Eaton's product development process
+ Drive awareness among the Privacy and Cybersecurity team regarding cutting-edge legal and business developments, and lead team morale and collaboration efforts
+ Drive Eaton's efforts to be a trusted steward of our customers' data in every market where Eaton operates
+ Create and present engaging company-wide trainings regarding data privacy and security requirements and standard methodologies
+ Partner with the Digital Team to support implementation of device data strategy and help prepare for upcoming legislation.
+ Interface with senior management to develop strategic plans for the collection, use and sharing of information in a manner that maximizes its value while complying with applicable privacy and cyber related regulations.
+ Identify and drive improvement opportunities within our legal department's Digital, Technology and Innovation program.
+ Conduct risk assessments and monitor internal controls, ensuring issues are documented and tracked to closure and liaison with relevant stakeholders.
+ Perform crisis management when an incident arises, including identifying, investigating, and remediating privacy incidents and breaches in a timely manner consistent with program requirements, leading crisis communications, developing solutions to unexpected situations, identifying training opportunities and liaising with appropriate stakeholders to drive alignment and coordinated resolutions.
+ Develop and deploy self-service tools to support digital and other customer needs for program components.
_Education level required:_
+ J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
+ Privacy, Cyber or Technology related certificate (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPT, CIPP/E, CIPM, CISSP) a plus.
_Years and area of experience required:_
+ 10 years of experience, at least 2 years of experience in the field of Privacy and/or Cybersecurity
+ Experience in a corporate legal department desired
+ Experience working in a global, cross functional environment.
Eaton recognizes this role as a critical position within the corporation and will create a compelling package consisting of all compensation and benefits elements. The annual salary range for this role is $150,000- $222,000 a year.
