Job Description:

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Plans, leads, and oversees complex communication projects involving the translations of new and changed policies, procedures, products, and services, into various references, which are customized for specific target audiences to achieve strategic objectives. Develops, coordinates and executes large-scale, multi-channel communications campaigns with internal stakeholders across a variety of channels to increase cybersecurity awareness of employees and contractors. Partners with internal stakeholders to develop and execute communications plans that generate awareness and engage employees in productive cybersecurity behaviors. Oversees and coordinates the development, review, and update of content, quality evaluation and measurement policies related to communication assets that support the CISO programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the design, review and implementation of long and short-term communication assets including newsletters, presentations, talking points, speeches, instructional manuals, process documentation, web content, event collateral, other written materials and business information, to improve the understanding of policies, procedures, products, services, and business strategies, and raise awareness of the Corporate Information Security Office mission and its business strategies. Ensures all creative copy tone and style fits within the brand messaging, incorporates the principles of plain language and is directed at the target audience.

Defines or identifies communication project objectives, goals, tools and media available to communicate with customer executive managers, employees, industry partners and customers. Analyzes the impact of complex issues and trends having national impact. Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures, adherence to style guidelines, and that facts have been properly verified. Understands legal issues, including those relating to copyrights, information release, licensing, and photo-rights; identify rights holders to the various intellectual property of persons or items; and works with in-house counsel to ensure that all copy is legally and factually airtight.

Coordinates and implements a variety of national events and programs related to the CISO Cyber Security program. Assists in managing tone, assets, and direction for customer events and coordinates with communication partners and internal clients to identify innovative ways to generate awareness, increase attendance and achieve the goals of the event. Participates in and finalizes briefing books and logistics related to events; designs programs; and submits documents for approval.

Independently researches literature and industry practices to identify the latest developments, techniques, systems, and methods for addressing needs, issues, and problems associated with cybersecurity content and quality evaluation. Coordinates cross-functionally to conduct research, develop communication strategies, and implement communication plans and projects requiring exploration of subject areas related to crisis communications, incident response, cybersecurity policy, awareness, and training. Defines key message opportunities, and develops cost-effective approaches to achieve project objectives.

Maintains strong working relationship with communications teams and a variety of cross-functional groups within the customer organization. Conveys openness to the ideas of others that facilitate the cross-functional creative environment with the stated goal of projecting how those generated ideas may play out across the enterprise to ensure project success and performance. Provides technical guidance to CISO program groups, working across functional areas to develop solutions to define communication challenges; applying continuous improvement principles and practices; and instantiating resilient management model methodologies.

Measures the effectiveness of current programs and initiatives. Evaluates current internal employee communication assets and makes recommendations for changes. Analyzes feedback and provides recommendations on how CISO communication efforts can be changed to engage employees better, promote awareness, build and maintain relationships, and elevate the CISO brand.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree; Advanced graduate work desired in a communications-related field
  • 10+ years' executive experience in a large government, corporate or consulting environment
  • Possesses strong analytical, organizational and product management skills, and successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to interact with C-Suite personnel, in a professional and confidential manner
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, with executive-level professional oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and show flexibility, initiative, and innovation in dealing with ambiguous and fast-paced situations
